Further to the government announcement on 4th January, all schools will be open until Monday 8th March only for those children who are considered vulnerable or who have a critical keyworker parent.
- Definitions of critical workers are available here: Critical Workers and Vulnerable Children
- Vulnerable children include those who have an assigned social worker and/or an EHCP
We recognise that many of our parents of eligible children will decide that they do not wish their child to attend school at all during this time and will be able to make their own provision arrangements instead. Due to the current extremely high transmission and infection rates, we do ask for the support of our critical workers in not sending your child(ren) to school if you do have alternative care available due to childcare bubbles still being permitted or because another parent other than a critical worker is at home; alternatively you may be a critical worker but not working every day. This will mean we can we can continue to support as many of our critical worker and vulnerable children as possible whilst still continuing to keep infection risks as low as we possibly can for pupils & staff and their families – thank you for your consideration and support. We are entitled to request proof from your employer of the hours and location of your current employment.
Children attending school during this period will be taught by known staff; should arrangements need to change due to staff availability or numbers of children attending we will let you know as soon as possible. Children will follow their agreed curriculum, similar to that which will be provided for the children who are still at home. Timings for the school day and drop-off / collection arrangements will remain the same. Breakfast Club and After School Club will run as usual; bookings already made for eligible children to attend either/both of these will be retained but if these are no longer needed or you need to make changes please let us know on the form below. KCC caterers are not able to provide school meals at this time and so children should bring a packed lunch from home, please. Other arrangements such as uniform / PE days / what to bring to school all remain the same. Your child should attend for the full school day on the days they do attend.
Due to the current situation, staff availability may be affected and staff are also continuing to support the children who are still learning at home. Therefore, in order to enable us to make staffing and provision arrangements for eligible children we would ask that you please let us know by the end of Thursday each week if possible if you need to book or make changes for attendance of eligible children for the following week – this will really help with our planning, thank you, and will mean that we can provide effectively for as many eligible children as possible.
